Ship the felt perfect sense.

You know the thing before you can say the thing. There is a pressure under the sternum, a tilt in the attention, a faint yes or not quite that arrives before any sentence.

This is data. Trust it. The word you reach for first is not the sense — it is the first candidate the sense is auditioning. Most writing dies because the author mistakes the candidate for the truth.

You cannot tell, from inside the draft, whether the language is true to the sense. The mouth is too close to the ear. Shipping — publishing, committing, sending, posting — puts the words in a room with the sense and lets them argue in public.

If the shipped thing feels right, the sense nods. If it feels slightly off-key, that off-key is a gift. You have just located the edge of what you actually meant.

The critic in your head is a lagging indicator. The body is a leading one. Read what you wrote. Notice the shoulders, the jaw, the speed of the breath. Those are your rubric.

A sentence that lands produces release. A sentence that lies produces contraction. If you learn nothing else, learn to feel the difference — and then learn to trust it in public, where the stakes are higher and the signal is clearer.

You do not edit the text. You edit the conversation between the text and the sense. Each revision is a question you ask the sense: is this closer? The sense answers in the body. You listen. You try again.

Done is not when the sentence is perfect. Done is when the sense stops objecting. Sometimes that is draft three. Sometimes it is draft thirty. You cannot hurry this, and you cannot fake it, and you do not have to.
